Code of Conduct for Players
Players are expected to comply with the following code of conduct :
Obligations towards the game
Players should :
1. Train and play to the best of your ability. Make every effort to
develop your own sporting abilities, in terms of skill, technique,
tactics and stamina.
2. Play according to the rules and spirit of the game. Give maximum
effort and strive for the best possible performance during a game,
even if the team is in a position where the match already seems won
or lost.
3. Set a positive example for others, particularly other players and
supporters. Have a positive attitude and encourage others to do the
same.
4. Avoid all forms of gamesmanship and time-wasting.
5. Not use offensive language or display aggression. Maintain self-
control in all situations. Never use foul or abusive language – before,
during or after a game or training session.
Obligations towards your team
Players should:
1. Make every effort consistent with Fair Play and the Laws of the
Game, to help the team to win.
2. Play in whichever position selected by the Manager.
3. Resist any influence which might, or might be seen to, bring into
question his commitment to the team winning.
4. Be on time for matches and training sessions with football boots
and shin pads. (Remember No shinnies – No play !)
5. Not be critical of other team members mistakes or lack of ability.
You all agreed that it was more important to have fun and play
together than to win – but winning would be nice !
Respect for the Laws of the Game and competition rules
Players should:
1. Know and abide by the Laws, rules and spirit of the game, and the
competition rules.
2. Accept success and failure, victory and defeat, equally.
3. Resist any temptation to take banned substances or use banned
techniques.
Respect towards Opponents
Players should:
1. Treat opponents with due respect at all times, irrespective of the
result of the game. Treat them as you would like them to treat you.
2. Safeguard the physical fitness of opponents, avoid violence and
rough play, and help injured opponents.
Respect towards the Match Officials
Players should :
1. Respect the referee and accept the decision of the Match Official
without protest.
2. Avoid words or actions which may mislead a Match Official.
3. Show due respect towards Match Officials. They are only human
and they make mistakes, just like you!
Respect towards Team Officials
Players should:
1. Abide by the instructions of their Coach and Team Officials,
provided they do not contradict the spirit of this Code.
2. Show due respect towards the Team Officials of the opposition.
3. Never be afraid to approach your Coach or Team officials. If you
have concerns regarding the game, other team members, the coach
or team officials, you must tell us your concerns (politely) in order for
us to deal with it.
Football Clubs have a Players Code of Conduct so that everyone in the team knows what is expected of them !
The Code of Conduct explains how players should behave towards their team, their opposition and match officials.
Players are expected to play fairly and according to the rules and also to be respectful to everybody around them.
REMEMBER
Football is a team sport involving:
· Working with others.
· Accepting & Understanding each other’s strengths & limitations.
· Competing against others.
· Having a good attitude towards each other & the coaches.
· We all need to : listen 2 learn.
· Only one person speaks at a time.
· Bad language will not be tolerated.
· Disruptive behaviour will not be tolerated.
· If you don't behave properly - you will not be allowed to take part.
